Busted Up!

When my father/grandfather was alive and heard of the demise of a relationship, he would exclaim, I heard they 'busted up'!.  2012 could take the award for the year of the 'busted up' (in my inner circle). Friends have shared 40 plus years of friendship on the rocks. Family members engaged in their very own Mexican stand-off.

Lack of forgiveness appears to be at the crux of reconciliation.  Forgiveness sounds easy enough on the surface, but genuine forgiveness takes time.  There are no short cuts to forgive someone who emotionally knifes you in the gut.

Here's a link to When to Cut Ties:

The following struck a cord with me from the article:

1.  There's an old saying in the psychology business, "The best prediction of future behavior, is past behavior".

2.  Something helpful when gauging your relationships is; whatever you feel like around the person, is probably how they feel about you.

I  hope that you are favored with compassion to both forgive and accept forgiveness.

Here's to fewer 'busted up' relationships in 2013!
